Abstract.
The process of extraction of amino acids at 298 K through hydrophobic
liquid membranes, performed with reversal micelles of aerosol OT (AOT)
in chloroform, was studied by using bulk liquid membrane (BLM) method and
UV-Vis spectroscopy. All transport rates were calculated by using the OLS
method, and the results are discussed in terms of hydrophobicity, chemical
potential gradient and electrostratic interactions. In all cases, the compounds
show overlapped UV-Vis spectra and therefore chemometric methods were applied
to solve a practical problem, in this study of the simultaneous transport
of chemical species through liquid membranes.
